THE RUDI URBACH BAND is the band of 17-year-old guitarist and singer-songwriter Rudi Urbach from Deep River, Ontario. Influenced by the bluesy grit of classic rock, the energy of prog, and the raw edge of pop-punk, Rudi is carving out a sound that’s uniquely his own along the shores of the Ottawa River.
In 2021, Rudi won the Henhouse Express Contest for young songwriters, earning the opportunity to record four original songs with Steve Dawson and the Henhouse Express. These tracks became his debut EP, released in December 2022.
Since then, Rudi has steadily grown as a live performer. In the summer of 2024, he played his first two music festivals: Springtide Music Festival’s Youth Stage and Deep River Summerfest’s Main Stage. He’s performed alongside JW-Jones and his band on multiple occasions in Ottawa.
In 2025, Rudi started performing with his band, and they have since played countless gigs in the area, festivals such as Springtide Music Festival and Deep River Summerfest, and shows in Ottawa opening for Reckless Fire.
Rudi’s next chapter is already in motion. In 2024, he recorded four new original songs with Kevin Comeau of Crown Lands at Chalet Studios, released throughout 2025.
